Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb beef
  • 1 pc onion
  • 2 pcs carrots
  • 2 pcs potatoes
  • ½ cup pearl barley
  • 3 pcs pickles
  • ¼ cup pickle juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Chop the meat into large diced pieces.
  • Grate the carrots on a coarse grater or cut them into very small cubes.
  • Chop the pickles the same way as carrots.
  • Chop the onions.
  • Rinse the pearl barley thoroughly.
  • Put all ingredients in a pot and add water to cover everything by about an inch.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about an hour.
