Ingredients

  • 1 pcs egg
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, bring the milk to a boil.
  • While continuously stirring the milk with a whisk, slowly pour in the semolina. Cook the porridge for about 3 minutes until it becomes thick.
  • Transfer the semolina porridge to a bowl and allow it to cool until it’s warm.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  • Combine the egg mixture with the warm semolina porridge and mix well.
  • Wet your hands with water, and use them to form thick round cakes from the mixture. Roll these cakes in flour.
  • Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil and place the semolina cakes in it.
  • Fry the semolina bits on low heat for about 3 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown.
  • Place the fried bits on a paper towel to allow excess oil to drip off.
  • You can serve the semolina bits hot, warm, or cooled, and you can accompany them with honey, jam, or condensed milk.
