Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups roasted peanuts unsalted
  • 2 tbsp peanut oil optional, for creamier texture
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste

  • If your peanuts are not already roasted, spread them on a baking sheet and roast them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-12 minutes, or until they become fragrant. Allow them to cool slightly.
  • Place the roasted peanuts in a food processor. You may want to reserve a handful of peanuts for a chunky texture later.
  • Process the peanuts for about 5-10 minutes. At first, the peanuts will become crumbly, then clump together, and eventually, you’ll see the oils release, creating a smooth buttery consistency.

Notes

  • If you desire a creamier texture, add 1-2 tablespoons of peanut oil during the processing. This step is optional, as the peanuts release their natural oils.
  • Add honey or maple syrup to sweeten the peanut butter. Start with 1 tablespoon and adjust according to your taste preferences. Blend again to combine.
  • Taste the peanut butter and add salt according to your preference. Process once more to evenly distribute the salt.
  • If you reserved a handful of peanuts, stir them into the smooth peanut butter for a chunky texture.
  • Transfer the homemade peanut butter to a clean, airtight jar. Store it in the refrigerator. The natural oils in the peanuts may cause separation, so give it a good stir before each use.
