Mushroom Lasagna
Mushroom Lasagna is a delightful twist on the classic Italian favorite. Layers of tender lasagna noodles intermingle with a rich mushroom-tomato sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and gooey mozzarella.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb mushrooms (any variety you like) sliced
- 1 pc medium onion finely chopped
- 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 oz
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1 cup parmesan cheese grated
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Sauce:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Remove any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and season with dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook the Lasagna Noodles:
- Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Assemble the Lasagna:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the mushroom-tomato sauce.
- Layer lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
- Spread a layer of ricotta cheese over the noodles.
- Add a layer of sliced mushrooms.
- Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers: noodles, sauce, ricotta, mushrooms, and mozzarella.
- Finish with a final layer of noodles, remaining tomato sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Bake:
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
